As Dubai Municipality conducted inspection across the emirate for the last three months, more than 100 food outlets have been found violating hygiene rules to prevent the spread of Covid-19, thus ordering them to shut down.
According to The National report, poor hygiene and ignoring strict social distancing rules forced the closure of 107 food outlets in Dubai.
The municipality has done 10,481 spot checks on restaurants and kitchens across the emirate since May 27.
The most prominent offenses detected were a failure to adhere to social distancing or not wearing personal safety equipment such as masks and gloves during food preparation. Businesses were also found not to be using approved sterilization and disinfection materials, Sultan Al Taher, Dubai Municipality's Food Inspection Manager, said.
He added that the inspection team conducted routine visits as well as checks based on consumer complaints and then impose fines where necessary.
