As the countdown begins to the 122nd anniversary of the Philippine Independence, this year's celebration will pay tribute to the heroic patriotism that binds Filipino expatriates in the UAE together in an exceptional 'by the community, for the community' celebration on Friday, June 5 at Rashid Hall, Dubai World Trade Centre, from 9 am onwards.
The one-day event will be bombarded with performances from participating communities across Dubai and the Northern Emirates, including Philippine folk dances (Tinikling, Pandanggo sa Ilaw, Carinosa, Itik-Itik, Sayaw Sa Bangko, and Maglalatik), among others.
The audience will also witness the most inspiring and talented members of the Filipino students. Schools that will be participating are Al Alfiah Private School, Far Eastern Private Schools, New Filipino Private School, United International Private School, and the Philippine School. Sinulog, Kadayawan, Pista sa Nayon, Karakol and Igorot festivals will bring nostalgia in honor of the Philippine festivals highlighting Piyestang Pilipino.
Other activities to showcase Filipino talents are Singing Champion Showdown, Hiphop Dance, Contemporary Dance, Spoken Word Poetry, and Fashion Show.
'Modern heroes' will also be recognized through Dakilang Bayani 2020 Award.
