Catch The Blue Supermoon In UAE: Best Viewing Spots Revealed

A spectacular celestial event is set to light up the UAE skies on Monday, August 19, as a blue supermoon makes its appearance. This rare occurrence follows the recent Perseids meteor shower, which captivated stargazers worldwide.

The blue supermoon will be visible around 8 PM and can be observed for three consecutive days. Despite its name, the moon will not actually appear blue. The term "blue supermoon" refers to the third full moon in a season with four full moons, a phenomenon that occurs once in a blue moon, hence the popular saying.

During this event, the moon will seem larger and brighter due to its proximity to Earth, according to NASA. The next time a similar event, known as the monthly blue supermoon, will occur on May 31, 2026.

For those seeking an optimal view, stargazing spots like Bab Al Nojoum Bateen Liwa in Abu Dhabi and the Al Quaa Milky Way Spot offer an ideal backdrop. These locations, away from city lights, provide clearer skies for a more immersive experience.
