As part of UAE’s visa reforms, residents who have lost their jobs in the country will soon be able to stay up to six months.
Currently, under the law of the UAE, employees who have lost their jobs are allowed to rectify their status or leave the country within 30 days.
However, authorities in the UAE are relaxing the grace period and would allow them to stay from three to six months after losing the job.
“We are relaxing the grace period one gets to leave the country after being made redundant. Instead of the previous 30 days, people will have 90 to 180 days to leave the country,” Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State and Foreign Trade, said in a statement.
