Filipinos Gearing Up For 2022 Elections In UAE

A few days from now, the overseas voting for Philippine national elections will commence in the UAE. Registered Filipino voters overseas will have a month to cast their votes. Registered voters in Dubai and the Northern Emirates can vote at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and those who are registered in Abu Dhabi can vote at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

The voting period for registered overseas voters will start on April 10, 2022, and end on May 9, 2022.

In an infographic posted by the Philippine Embassy in the UAE, it instructed voters to verify their names on the list of registered voters using this link.

After confirming that the name is on the list, they can cast the vote in Embassy or Consulate within one month at the following timings:

10 April 2022 – 8:00am to 4:00pm

11 April up to 8 May 2022 – 7:30am to 3:30pm

9 May 2022 – 7:00am to 3:00pm

Voters are required to bring an original or photocopy of ID, either Emirates ID, passport, or any government-issued ID.

They are also reminded of the following while inside the voting venue:

> One should not wear or bring materials bearing the name, likeness or symbols that may be construed as favoring a particular candidate, political party or group

> Avoid actions that may be interpreted as campaigning for a particular candidate, political party or group, including distribution of materials, food, etc.

> Avoid voting at the last minute. Given the limited space capacity of the voting venue, the voter is encouraged to vote early.

The Comelec has provided the Philippine Embassy five automated machines for use of the Embassy and Philippine Overseas Labor Overseas precincts.

“Because of this, voters may expect some waiting time,” the embassy said.
