Dubai’s vibrant Filipino hip-hop and rap scene has just added a powerful new single to its roster with the release of the lyric video for “Anaadi Ananta,” by promising Filipino rap artist AMGDL. Known for his profound, reflective lyrics, AMGDL (short for amygdala) invites listeners into a journey of self-reflection and spiritual exploration with this latest track, officially set to launch on November 9 at Pwestuhan Bar in Dubai.
In his latest work, AMGDL, whose real name is Mitchelle Brynt R. Gulpo, combines philosophical musings with Sanskrit-inspired references, providing a lyrical deep-dive that speaks to the complexities of existence and the soul’s connection to an eternal entity. At just 26, this Dubai-based artist has already made waves in the UAE’s Filipino rap community, with collaborations alongside notable names like Issa Loki and Ghetto Gecko and awards from local rap battles and competitions.
The song title, “Anaadi Ananta,” translates to “no beginning and no end,” an allusion to timeless consciousness and the infinite. "At first, listeners might interpret the lyrics as a personal relationship story," AMGDL shares, "but as they reflect, they'll find it’s about my connection with God." This layered meaning adds a unique dimension to the track, encouraging repeat listens and introspection.
AMGDL’s stage name, a nod to the amygdala—the brain’s center for emotions and motivation—reflects his artistic approach, blending raw emotion with intellectual depth. He was raised in a hip-hop-loving household, igniting his passion for rap at age 21, and he has since become a compelling figure in Dubai’s music industry.
“Anaadi Ananta” was produced by The Box Records, the first registered Filipino-owned music label in the UAE, furthering AMGDL’s commitment to elevating Filipino artistry in the region. The lyric video for this thought-provoking single is now available for viewing, offering fans a taste of what’s to come at the upcoming live launch.
