NAIA Terminal Assignments To Change As New Operator Takes Over

A major change is set to take place at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) this month. On September 9, New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC), the private company taking over NAIA’s operations starting September 14, announced new terminal assignments for airlines and flights to ease congestion and improve efficiency.

According to NNIC, Philippine Airlines (PAL) international flights will now operate from Terminal 1, while domestic flights of PAL and Cebu Pacific will be moved to Terminal 2. All other international flights will be transferred to Terminal 3, and AirAsia flights will be handled at Terminal 4.

NNIC General Manager Angelito Alvarez said the changes are part of efforts to address overcrowding at the airport, which is expected to handle 51 million passengers by the end of 2024—far exceeding its design capacity of 35 million. Full implementation of these changes will take two years, following the expansion of Terminal 2.
