President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. returned to the Philippines on Wednesday morning following a “short but productive” working visit to the United Arab Emirates. His plane landed at 10 a.m.
In his arrival statement, Marcos emphasized the agreements reached during his trip, which include collaborations in culture, energy transition, legal cooperation, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy. Other key developments included improvements in government services, a visa waiver for diplomatic and special passport holders, and enhanced investment cooperation.
"I look forward to the implementation of several bilateral agreements that will strengthen ties between our nations," Marcos said.
During a meeting with UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Marcos conveyed Manila's gratitude for the UAE’s respect and care for the Filipino community. Sheikh Al Nahyan, in turn, acknowledged the significant contributions of Filipinos to the UAE’s development.
Marcos also thanked the UAE for its humanitarian support during natural calamities in the Philippines, explaining that his visit was cut short to address relief efforts for areas affected by recent tropical cyclones.
"I also conveyed appreciation for the UAE Government’s constant humanitarian support for victims of these natural calamities," he noted.
Marcos extended an invitation to Sheikh Al Nahyan to visit the Philippines in the coming months to continue discussions and explore further areas of cooperation.
