A 36-year-old Filipina housemaid in Dubai was found guilty of stealing a cash worth AED82,000 and AED100,000 worth of jewelry from own Emirati sponsor.
The housemaid was also ordered to pay a total of AED182,000 as a fine.
The Dubai Court of Instance has also decided to kick her out of the country after serving her jail term.
“I kept AED4,000, which I marked, in my purse in the closet. When I lost it, I confronted the maids in front of my daughter. At first, they denied having to do anything with it. However, after about half an hour, one of them–the defendant–admitted she had taken the money. She brought me about AED8,000 and confessed she had been stealing my money. She said that she stole AED82,000 in total,” the 63-year-old complainant recalled.
