More than 30 plus expatriate kids in the UAE have battled it out during the Chess competition at the recently-concluded Makati Express Cargo Summer Sports Festival Season IV at the Al Wasl Sports Club in Dubai.
Indian Muhammad Shayan Noushad Ibrahim, 6 years old, emerged as the champion despite having zero FIDE rating. With 6 points, Muhammad beat all other kids who have even higher FIDE ratings based on their age.
Kids who are chess enthusiasts from India, Philippines, China, Lebanon, USA, Indonesia and Turkey met under one roof to execute the board game that supports the development of higher-order thinking skills—like problem-solving, decision making, critical thinking, planning, and even creative thinking.
Meanwhile, Sayanth Krishna of India and Cresencia Clarence Miguel of the Philippines were hailed as second and third runners-up.
Below are the chess players with special awards:
Wang Zixuan (Sd), China - Top U10
