The UAE has established a new age classification for movies, with the country’s Media Regulatory Office announcing on Sunday that the 21+ age classification will allow international versions of films to be exhibited in theatres.
The films would not be censored by UAE officials, as was the case with several previous releases.
According to a top official, censoring would not apply to films with this rating, and the UAE’s highest age rating was 18+ till now. 15+ is a similar rating.
A parent must accompany a minor to the movie theater if the film is rated PG.
