A top government official in the UAE announced that kids two years old and above are required to wear face masks when going out of their homes.
Dr. Omar Al Hammadi, the UAE Government spokesperson, however, advised that kids with breathing issues or chronic illnesses and children who have difficulty in removing the masks on their own are exempted.
He said that kids are not safe from contracting the virus but the chances of contracting it is very less.
"However, they can be carriers of the virus and infect others," he added.
Dr. Al Hammadi stressed that wearing a mask reduces the chance of transmitting Covid-19.
