Private sector employees in the UAE will enjoy a public holiday for Eid Al Fitr, with time off starting from Sunday, March 30, 2025, as confirmed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). The break will last until Tuesday, April 1, 2025, and could extend to Wednesday, April 2, if Ramadan lasts 30 days.
The official holiday period is based on the Islamic Hijri calendar, where months are either 29 or 30 days long, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon. Authorities will confirm on Friday, March 28, whether Ramadan will be a 29-day or 30-day month, determining the final length of the Eid break.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources previously announced that government employees would also have time off until either April 1 or April 2.
Eid Al Fitr, one of the most significant holidays in the UAE, marks the end of Ramadan and is a time for celebration, charitable giving, and family gatherings. Many residents also take advantage of the break to travel, with Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Ras Al Khaimah among the top destinations for holiday getaways.
