UAE Won’t Undergo Another Lockdown, UAE Official Says

Despite the rise of Covid-19 cases in the UAE, a top government official assured that the country won’t be declaring another lockdown.

Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade in the UAE said during an interview with Bloomberg TV that there will be no lockdown in the UAE or whatsoever.

“Omicron is way less impactful than the delta and even during delta, we haven’t locked down the country. The balance has been there throughout the omicron for sure and with any future variants when it comes to corona,” he said.

He firmly said that UAE will not go back to the full lockdown.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) reported 3,068 new Covid-19 cases, 1,266 recoveries, and three deaths on Friday, January 14. The total number of active cases in the country is now 38,849.
